May 23rd Update

Let’s Go Fishing!!

We are at the lodge focusing on the important things in our lives; family, friends and fishing! This has been an exciting week in Alaska as Governor Dunleavy has announced Alaska is opening with just a few restrictions. The main restriction affecting us is the 14-day quarantine which is set to expire on June 2nd. The governor indicated that he is working with the Air Carriers Association and local airports to have screening protocols in place which will allow the restriction to expire on the 2nd (if not rescinded before).

With all these changes we wanted to let you know what we will be doing to keep you healthy and what we will ask you to do while at the lodge.

Waters Edge Lodge’s Plan

  • All crew health will be screened daily

  • Social distancing will be observed; face coverings worn when it is not possible

  • Sanitize high touch areas multiple times a day

  • Sanitize boats daily

  • Take guest temperatures daily, unless not required by state guidelines

  • Change the way meals are served to allow for social distancing

  • Limit guest contact with local residents by having set departure/arrival time windows

What will be expected of our Guests

  • Social distancing when in and around the lodge

  • Avoid contact with local residents

  • Wash hands frequently

  • Stay home if sick

  • Wear face coverings when you are on the boardwalk or docks

  • DO NOT VISIT – General Store, local Gift Shop, Liquor Store, Coho’s bar or Post Office

  • If toilet paper remains scarce…bring a roll!

Things are coming together, and we are looking forward to a fun season of fishing. As we know more, we will keep you updated, or you can follow the updates at covid19.alaska.gov.

See you soon in Elfin Cove!! Kelly, Mary & crew
