Cell Phone Coverage and WIFI

As is common with most remote locations in the world, cell phone coverage is great, when you have service.  You will have scattered cell service in Elfin Cove with better service while out fishing.  Bring your phone but be aware that depending on your provider and plan, additional charges may apply.  AT&T has had the best service and Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile have limited or no service.  The dining room at the lodge has a cell signal booster which allows for calls and data use.  The lodge has a landline phone that guests are welcome to use.  Each boat is outfitted with a marine radio for your safety and convenience.

WIFI not readily available in Elfin Cove.  If you have a data plan on your phone, this will work best in Elfin Cove especially with our cell signal boosters.

Travel Between Juneau and Elfin Cove, Alaska

You will be traveling between Juneau and Elfin Cove via a catamaran.  This trip is a scenic 3-hour ride that will afford you views of wildlife, seabirds and beautiful vistas.  Plan to enjoy relaxing as you take pictures of all that the inside passage has to offer and swap fishing stories with fellow anglers.  We arrange this part of the trip for you and it is included in your lodge package.

Travel Difficulties

If you have travel delays or have other travel issues please contact us as soon as possible. Often we are able to make adjustments to accommodate unforeseen circumstances.

Weather can occasionally affect scheduled flights, if due to weather or other uncontrollable reason, you have to spend an additional night, coming or leaving the lodge, you are be responsible for your own hotel and meal costs.  Neither Waters Edge Lodge nor participating airlines or other transportation companies will assume any additional costs.

Fish Processing

Every night your fish is filleted, vacuum-sealed and frozen on-site.  At the end of your trip it is packed in fish boxes and travels home with you as checked luggage.  Once your fish leaves Waters Edge Lodge, you are responsible for and care of your catch.

Tipping Procedure

In Alaska, it is the custom to tip the staff for the services they provide. This can sometimes become a confusing proposition, so we would like to suggest the following general guidelines. We recommend tipping at least 10% of your per person rate.

Alcoholic Beverages

We do not have a liquor license but you are welcome to purchase liquor in Juneau.  While fishing with Waters Edge Lodge your safety is our greatest concern.  Alcohol and/or drugs impair your mental capacity and are strictly prohibited on our fishing boats, our dock or on the catamaran.
