Wow what a fireworks display we had here in Elfin Cove! 100% the fault of Matt C. From Juneau!! He ordered them and hauled them out here and lit the fuses for us! It was amazing to celebrate our Country and see that many fireworks go off! We are truly blessed to live in the country we live in feeling very grateful. Weather has been good and bad, we had several days of rough open water conditions followed by very flat calm water for several days. King Salmon are slowing do

When is the best time to fish in Alaska?? We always get asked this question. I always struggle with an answer cause sometimes it is late August other times it is June. Today my answer is right now!!! Fishing is really good right now. King Salmon are doing really good, silvers are here also, halibut seem really hungry right now and they are big. Weather has been great the past few days. Great time to be in Elfin Cove!! I love this place! Kelly

June 16th Update
I love June! King salmon are in and doing great. They are all coming from down the coast past Yakobi Rock, does not seem to matter what you use they seem to be hitting on everything, I have heard reports of 100’ down and some were caught on a dispy diver. We are also seeing Pink salmon and Silver salmon on the dock. Kurt reported yesterday out in the middle of Cross Sound he saw thousands of salmon on the surface. We also had a big pod of Humpback Whales bubble feeding i

What a difference a little warm weather makes. Today it must be 60-65 and tomorrow is forecasted for 71 degrees!! We are all very excited! Been a wet cold spring, ready for some sunshine. In about a 1/2 hour our first guests will arrive for the start of the 2026 season. We are ready! I wish you could all experience the change that takes place, we have been working very hard getting ready, boats buildings, groceries, training new staff. Lots of preparation in getting re

May 24th Update
May has had a few nice days, but for the most part it has felt more wet and cold than normal to me. We are one week away from our first guests arriving. We are now moving into more training for new crew. The boats for the most part are ready to go. I am always amazed at the excitement the new crew brings with them. Alaska is amazing and it seems to live up to whatever we think it is supposed to be like. This year we interviewed almost 90 potential crew members. It is al

May 12th Update
Snow is all finally gone from the lower elevations. Amazing to see thos big piles of snow each day shrink and eventually dissapear. Lots of work going into getting ready. We have all the boats in the water and have moved them to their summer home in Elfin Cove. Still lots to do to get ready before the first guests arrive. Weather has changed alot, no more freezing at night, one day it got up to 56 degrees, it felt so good. Bringing the boats out went really good, we had

Ice in the harbor! 28 degrees! Brrrr! But it warmed up to almost 50 yesterday. The sun felt really good. No fishing this week we are doing a bit of construction for more crew quarters. I did get something from the ocean to eat though. We were in Juneau last week working on the new boats and there was a fisherman selling crab in Auke Bay. Mike and Matt helped me polish off two golden king crab! It was an amazing experience. Fresh just caught crab! Very grateful for our sta

Springtime Update
We woke up to springtime in Utah this morning, which means we’re getting closer to heading to Alaska. Kelly will begin the migration north soon, as he heads up to start construction. We’ve had a busy winter, and we couldn’t be more excited for summer. Here are some of our winter highlights! Kelly went to a LOT of shows this winter—seriously, a lot. Since January, he’s been on the road nearly every weekend. A big thank you to everyone we visited with! We love catching up outsi
