Wow what a fireworks display we had here in Elfin Cove!  100% the fault of Matt C. From Juneau!!  He ordered them and hauled them out here and lit the fuses for us!  It was amazing to celebrate our Country and see that many fireworks go off!  We are truly blessed to live in the country we live in feeling very grateful.

Weather has been good and bad, we had several days of rough open water conditions followed by very flat calm water for several days.

King Salmon are slowing down, but still saw several on the dock this week.  Pink salmon were slow at times and then thick the last couple of days, so hopefully pinks will be on the increase, we had them really early in June and then they slowed for several weeks but now seem to be back again.  Silvers are still being caught, like the pinks they showed up early, great sign that there are many headed our way.

Halibut started off slow but finished the week very strong.  Biggest halibut last week was 168 lbs.  Does not seem to matter what bait you use, kelp greenling, herring, pink salmon, jigs, we saw halibut caught on all of these this past week.  Halibut fishing seems to be more on the open ocean and then as the pinks show up and start going thru the pass the halibut seem to move in and are everywhere.  We saw halibut come from both inside waters and outside, so I think you can fish just about anywhere right now and catch halibut.  I suggest thinking about and making a plan, I have seen guests in the past week waste alot of time.  If you are going to fish the open ocean go fish down there, to go from Yakobi Rock to Cape Spencer, to Lemesurier Island is not smart you will spend more time boating then fishing.

Mary and I are very pleased with our crew this year.  The Leaders: Jeremy, Dawson, Kamree are doing great, they have their crews trained and working together well, have fun with them and be patient we are doing the best we can to keep up with you all :)
