End of June Fishing Update
End of June Fishing Update Our first guests arrived May 30th this year, our first full week was June 5th. From that first week till now has been really good. The King Salmon are maybe not as hot as last year, but last year was like really really good. The dance with the open ocean continues as in years past. There are some days where you just can not get down the coast due to rough seas. But there were many days where the ocean was flat calm. What has made it all worth

June 22nd Fishing Update
King Salmon!! King Salmon! Nothing beats fishing for King Salmon. June is a great time to be fishing! We had a rookie fishermen again get the biggest fish of the day this time it was a king salmon not a halibut. I think this young man will be hooked for life. We are continuing to catch pink, silver and chum salmon also. Halibut have been slow one day and then good the next. Open Ocean was fairly good this last week, pretty good fishing conditions. Here are a few photo

June 20th Fishing Update
King Salmon are doing very well. Down the coast is the hot spot. Boats are reporting getting their limit by 7:30am. They are deep from 60' to 100'. We are also still seeing Silvers and chums and pinks. Pink Salmon seems to be the best bait for halibut. Halibut are doing good also. 150 lb is the biggest so far for this week.

June 11th Update
June 11 Fishing Update Our first full week at the Mossy Ridge Lodge has come to a close. We had good weather at first then the last couple of days there were very large swells down the coast, I would guess 12’ swells. Our nice hot summer sunshine seems to maybe be slipping away it is currently raining and has been doing this off and on for the past few days. King salmon are in down the coast. They are deep like normal 100’ on the down rigger. Lots of small ones being repo

Fuel 2022
Fuel 2022 OK so I got my soap box out so I have a bit of a speech to give. This spring I have been watching the fuel prices go up and up. I really like how we do things, I like including everything in our package price, it just makes everything more simple. I need your help? If you go full throttle 5800 RPMS you will be traveling around 35 mph. At this RPM and speed you will burn close to 20 gallons per hour. If you run at 4800 RPMs you will be traveling around 30 - 32

June 6th 10 King Salmon
June 6 Fishing Update Great first day! This was our first big day with a group of fishermen. They did pretty good. 10 Kings were brought in, and a good bunch of halibut. 94 lbs was the biggest. Kings were caught down the coast. Water was not great 4-6 foot swell with some chop. Rained most of the day. Most of the halibut seem to be coming from the Open Ocean side. We also had several pink salmon and one chum caught yesterday. Very excited about the pinks! Fresh Pin

June 2nd Fishing Update
June 2nd Self guided vs guided halibut fishing. What does it mean? Self Guided? Or Unguided? To not have a guide or Captain? Last year I was on the Noble Eagle traveling to Elfin Cove with a new group of guests. One of them was asking some odd questions. To make a long story short he had gotten mixed up and was calling one of the other lodges in Elfin Cove that was guided and had no idea he was going on a self guided fishing trip. Yea I know pretty scary, I hope that eve
