June 16 - 22 - 2013

2013 is officially under way! What a great start to the season. Really nice weather and the catches of halibut and salmon were pretty good. The temps are in the high 60s and we had very little rain this week. We had all 5 species of salmon caught this week. Tom got his limit of King/Chinook Salmon and also lost a 200 lb + halibut at the boat. Pink/Humpies salmon are here in large numbers, Chums/Dogs are also still being caught. And we are seeing Silvers/Coho also, they are not very big and not that many compared to the Pinks and Chums, but Silvers are here. We also had one Red/Sockeye caught. One boat really got into the halibut for the week there was 5 over 100 lbs and one was 172 lbs. Kings were caught on herring and spoons. The big halibut was caught on squid, pink salmon is working the best for the halibut. Behind the Inian Islands is where the big halibut was caught.
