June 16th Update

I love June!  King salmon are in and doing great.  They are all coming from down the coast past Yakobi Rock, does not seem to matter what you use they seem to be hitting on everything, I have heard reports of 100’ down and some were caught on a dispy diver.  We are also seeing Pink salmon and Silver salmon on the dock.  Kurt reported yesterday out in the middle of Cross Sound he saw thousands of salmon on the surface.  We also had a big pod of Humpback Whales bubble feeding in Cross Sound yesterday.  Halibut are being caught on the inside waters as well as outside waters, halibut seem very normal so far right on pace from what we normally see.

Weather has been a mixed bag, we had a few days of really nice sunny calm water, then we had a fairly good disturbance come thru which gave us over 9’ seas in open ocean, and now it is nice in the mornings and then foggy with a drizzle in the afternoons and nights.  Wouldn’t be south east Alaska without some rain.  The new staff are doing great, they still need some experience but everyone is settling into their role and doing great so far.
