June is just a crazy time to fish, some years the Silvers/Coho and Pinks are not here and all we have are Kings, but not this year. We are seeing great fishing for Coho/Silvers and Pink salmon. King Salmon are going crazy also. Making for some very fun filled days. The Silvers are good sized also, normally they are skinny, not this year. Weather has also been very good this past week. Calm water and lots of sunshine. 42” long King Salmon was caught this week! The Salmon are all being caught down the coast from Yakobi rock, Pumpkin Patch and the Rabbit head. Halibut was also very good this past week, one boat got three halibut pins. They are being caught all over open ocean and inside waters. Jigging is fun to do and it seems to hook the big ones, but I heard of several big halibut this week taking the bait, we are using pink salmon for halibut bait. Today we have some big swing in the tides, a -2’ low tide this morning. I remember a few years ago when the Mossy Ridge guests had a -2 low tide half the guests in one day got a halibut over 100lbs. Yes it is hard to fish on those big current days, but I am starting to think the big tides are the time to be fishing for giant halibut!!
Our crew is doing great this year. Anxious for you all to meet them. Lots of fish caught last week, will be interesting to see how this next week goes.
