July 31 - Aug 6 2011

The big news this week, was the opening of ling cod. It was supposed to be Aug 15th but the restriction was lifted early. Several of the guests took advantage and caught some nice ling cod. The biggest halibut for the week was 119 lbs. Pinks are still in abundance and Silvers seem to be getting bigger and more numerous, occasionally we see a Chum. We had some rain off and on but nothing steady so weather this week was about average I would say. The week ended up on Friday with a good average catch, close to limits of Silvers and some good 40 lb halibut on the dock. Everyone is going home with plenty of fish to cook up. For those of you coming up in the next few weeks, spend some time on the NOAA charts and learn the area before you come and also the ADF&G regulations.
